Guiding sections:
It’s now even easier to join us – just register a girl or young woman directly through the national Girlguiding website. There is a short form which will help direct your enquiry to the best person.
Each meeting is filled with exciting activities that spark curiosity and creativity, from arts and crafts to outdoor adventures.
Rainbows are encouraged to explore the world around them, develop new skills, and embrace the joy of learning. They also work towards earning badges that celebrate their interests and achievements. From Recycling to Storytelling, Rainbows can earn badges in a wide variety of topics. They also begin their journey with the Skills Builder program, working towards six Theme Awards. By completing these, they can earn the prestigious Rainbow Gold Award, a symbol of their dedication and growth.
Brownies enjoy a wide range of activities, from creative arts to outdoor adventures, all while making new friends and building confidence.
At Brownie meetings, girls work together in small groups called Sixes, fostering teamwork and leadership. They can also participate in day trips, sleepovers, and holidays, adding to the adventure. A significant part of Brownies is earning badges, with options ranging from Baking and Mindfulness to Aviation and Public Speaking. They continue their Skills Builder journey here, working towards six Theme Awards that culminate in the Brownie Gold Award, a testament to their accomplishments.
Whether it’s planning an outdoor adventure, organizing a community project, or simply trying something new, Guides is all about having fun while learning.
In addition to their regular meetings, Guides enjoy activities like camping, hiking, and even international travel. They work in small teams called Patrols, where they develop leadership skills and learn to work together. Guides also have the opportunity to earn badges in a wide array of subjects, from Photography to Campaigning. The Skills Builder program continues at this stage, with girls working towards their Guide Gold Award, an achievement that highlights their dedication and skill.
Rangers are encouraged to explore their passions, take on leadership roles, and make lasting friendships.
Rangers have the freedom to tailor their experience to their interests, whether that’s through adventure, volunteering, or skill development. They can earn badges in areas such as Event Planning, Bushcraft, and Travel, and continue their Skills Builder journey towards the Ranger Gold Award. Rangers can also work towards prestigious awards like the Queen’s Guide Award and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
In addition, Rangers can become Young Leaders, Peer Educators, or take on other roles within the organization, making a real impact in their communities while gaining valuable life skills.
If you’re aged 18–30, you’re automatically a member of inspire, a network for our young volunteers.
Whether you want to travel the world, build your CV, support girls or simply have fun with new friends, you can do it with Girlguiding Inspire. There are loads of ways to get involved. Some of our opportunities are through volunteering with local Girlguiding units, others you can do on your own.
We couldn’t run so many successful units without the help and dedication of our many volunteers. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers into the many roles that Guiding has to offer. Through volunteering you can open up a world of fun and friendship, not to mention gain new skills.
